Master Painter / Educator
Very much loved and respected by his students and colleagues, Sir Jose “Kimsoy” Yap Jr. has been instrumental in shaping and sharpening the talents of his students who are mostly majoring in art and design. Kimsoy has over seventeen years of experience as an educator under his belt, making him an institution in the Cebuano art scene, having made a tremendous contribution to the painting community of Cebu. Hailed as a multi-awarded painter, he has done various one-man exhibits in cities like New York and in Germany.
His Passion
Sir Kimsoy loves to read and collect art books, but he is also into science fiction and horror novels. Above all, it is painting that he considers his ultimate passion, something that he sees himself doing for the rest of his life.
His Accomplishments
The opportunity to travel and study abroad is Kimsoy’s greatest accomplishment. For him, it was the opening to discovering and learning more about painting.
Resiliency and Hard Work
For Kimsoy, most people look up to the Cebuanos because of their ability to be resilient and strong during adversity. Cebuanos are also industrious workers, which is why they are easily recognized and successful in their respected fields.

?
When asked what his favorite subject for painting is, he gave a sheepish smile and answered, women. He believes that the natural curves and grace of a woman’s body is the perfect subject for a beautiful painting.
