Performance Artist / Environmental Advocate
Russ describes himself as a performance artist, someone who uses his body as the medium to express his art, just like a painter uses canvas. He also writes poetry and loves film. He tries to share his talent as an artist by teaching young kids to express themselves through painting.
His Passion
Russ feels in one with nature — during his free time, he tries to immerse himself with the environment by heading out to the highlands or to the beach. He devotes his time to volunteering and contributing to research for the protection of sea creatures.
His Achievements
He is proud to be the only full-time performance artist in Cebu which has garnered several recognition and awards for his performances.
Cebuano ingenuity and craftsmanship
Russ believes that the ingenuity and excellent craftsmanship are two admirable aspects of the Cebuanos’ colorful personalities. It is reflected in how Cebuanos came up with the idea of puso (or hanging rice wrapped in cocounut or palm leaves) and how to make the Cebu’s lechon the best, not only in the Philippines, but around the world.

Russ is a volunteer for Green Peace. The preservation of nature and protection of the environment are just some of his advocacies. He has anunexplained fondness for animals, specifically mammals, and he is fascinated by dolphins.
